One of the evening’s most prestigious moments is the presentation of the John Adam Treutlen Award, a distinguished honor recognizing a county resident who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and activism within our community. Named after Georgia’s first post-British governor, Hans Adam Treutlen, the award symbolizes resilience, leadership, and commitment to Effingham County’s growth and success.
Since its inception in 1986, the Treutlen Award has recognized esteemed individuals such as Ann Purcell, Secretary of the Georgia Transportation Board; Representative Bill Hitchens; and retired educator and military veteran Franklin Goldwire. The recipient remains a closely guarded secret until the moment of presentation, adding an air of anticipation and excitement to the event.
