Effingham Chamber Announces Tourism Special Event Grants
For Immediate Release
The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce has announced five recipients for 2023 Tourism Special Event Grants. The $1,000 grants are funded through the Lodging Excise Tax for Effingham County, and distributed by the chamber by agreement with the Board of Commissioners.
Grant recipients are
- Effingham Health System Foundation for the Gears & Grub Car Show on March 4, 2023. Grant funds were used for print and radio advertising.
- Historic Effingham Society for the Old Effingham Day Festival on April 15, 2023. Grant funds will be used for restroom rental.
- The Mars Theatre for a Show with Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters on June 13, 2023. Grant funds will be used for magazine advertising..
- Georgia Salzburger Society for the Heritage Day Festival on September 4, 2023. Grant funds will be used for purchase mats that will eliminate hazards and provide a smooth surface for those needing wheelchairs, strollers, and walkers.
- Effingham Co. Chamber of Commerce for Night in Effingham on March 24, 2023.Grant funds will be used for advertising..
The purpose of the Special Event Grant is to promote outside visitation for the benefit of the unincorporated areas and municipalities where the Lodging Excise Tax is collected. The funds must be used for:
- Marketing to visitors from nearby towns or further
- Application fees/bid fees/performance fees to bring a special event to Effingham County.
- A significant addition to an existing event that would not be possible without a grant
